2024 Main Street Metrics: Trends over Time from the Small Business Credit Survey
This chartbook and the accompanying appendix file present over-time trends on small business performance and financing metrics using Small Business Credit Survey data from 2016 through 2023.
The annual Small Business Credit Survey (SBCS) has been conducted nationally since 2016, and as such, provides useful information on business trends over time. This publication summarizes time-series data for employer firms on 11 SBCS metrics, including indicators of business performance and financing outcomes. Time-series data by firm and owner demographics are also available in the appendix file for the following firm categories:
- Firm size (revenue and employment)
- Age of firm
- Industry
- Geography (urban/rural)
- Credit risk
- Race/ethnicity of owners
- Gender of owners
- Veteran ownership
- Immigrant ownership
- LGBTQ ownership
